Zeus Capital – Year End Update
18th April 2016
Zeus Capital Update
Zeus Capital Limited (“Zeus Capital”) reports continued progress as a leading independent investment bank specialising in corporate advice and fund raisings for private and public companies, with offices in Manchester, London and Birmingham.
Fundraisings & Corporate Advisory
For the financial year ending 31 March 2016, Zeus Capital completed 23 transactions raising over £1.5bn across both the public and private markets, including 3 IPOs, 2 Reverse Takeovers (RTOs) and 13 secondary fund raisings. As a result, Zeus Capital was ranked 2nd on the London Stock Exchange AIM market for funds raised in 2015, including the largest IPO in this period. This has been supplemented by its successful private fundraisings totalling £32m across 5 transactions. Zeus Capital has also selectively increased its number of retained brokerships from 25 to 33.
The result is another successful financial year to 31 March 2016 with pre-tax profits of £11m, with no exceptional items, giving an average pre-tax profit of over £10m per annum for the last three years. The balance sheet remains strong with year-end net assets of £18m and net cash of £13m. The resultant profit per head figure is believed to be the highest amongst its peer group.
This track record reflects its successful strategy adopted four years ago of recruiting some of the best corporate financiers, stockbrokers and analysts in the small and mid-cap industry.
Zeus Capital has recently further increased its reach and footprint with the addition of a top rated Financials team, and recruitment in Natural Resources, a new sector for the firm. This brings total employees to 56 professionals, a 50% increase over the prior year, which diversifies the sector and product specialisms across its chosen segments of the market. This includes a recent partnership with Enclave, a US broker dealer, to provide access to North American financial markets for Zeus Capital clients.
The firm’s goal is to maintain this momentum across its areas of the market and to remain focussed on providing a high level of service and winning mandates in both public and private markets. Zeus Capital believes this is part of what differentiates the firm from the competition, and it will continue to selectively hire top professionals in its industry.
Sir Nigel Knowles, Chairman of Zeus Capital, commented:
“We have a highly talented, focussed and committed team at this firm, which is reflected in the results we have achieved. I have a high degree of confidence that against the background of the strategy we are pursuing and in even more challenging trading conditions, our people will continue to perform well. This confidence is underpinned by our core commitment to provide our clients with the best possible advice and service.”
